Integrating ideological and political education into English teaching in vocational colleges and cultivating the vocational literacy of vocational students in an implicit way not only enriches the connotation of English courses in vocational colleges but also makes traditional ideological and political education more vivid and lively. To explore the effectiveness of POA in the ideological and political teaching of English courses in vocational colleges, two parallel classes of students majoring in hotel management were selected as the research subjects. The control group used traditional teaching methods, while the experimental group used POA teaching methods. Research has shown that the POA can comprehensively improve teaching effectiveness and the experimental group students have higher scores in composition writing and oral expression than the control group in the post-test. Compared to the traditional teaching methods, POA can more subtly promote the absorption internalization, and expression of ideological and political elements by vocational college students, achieve the coordinated development of vocational English skills improvement and value shaping, and provide new ideas for vocational English curriculum teaching.
