Abstract

Higher education internationalization has been extensively researched, but evaluation indicator systems are often unable to be aligned with the available official data. In addition, there is limited contextualization of them under China's “Double First-Class” initiative. Based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process and the entropy method, and guided by the theories of comprehensive evaluation, this study constructs a seven-dimensional indicator system. It conducts a questionnaire survey to gather satisfaction feedback from executive staff, faculty members, and students in three universities in Western China, and then collects and analyzes the data. The findings reveal that the strengths and weaknesses of the three categories of universities can be well reflected in their scores on various indicators. The indicator system and methods are plausible for evaluating individual universities. This evaluation has theoretical and practical implications for improving university internationalization and China's “Double First-Class” initiative.
