Exhibitions are the primary method for museums and cultural institutions to disseminate knowledge and culture, offer cultural products and services to the public, and serve as a way to fulfill the public's need for "informal learning". With the development of society and the changing needs of audiences, exhibition design requires new guiding principles. With the changes in social development and audience needs, exhibition design requires a new guiding idea. The concept of the "participatory museum," as proposed by Nina Simon, is based on current social development and is a theory of user-centered museum innovation research. The "Participatory Museum" not only summarizes four modes of participation: contribution, hospitality, cooperation, and co-creation but also constructs a systematic practical methodology for each mode of participation. In the face of various types of exhibitions, audience demographics and needs are evolving. At the same time, the theory is more focused on Western countries and cases for analysis. Therefore, in the practical application of the theory, it needs to be comprehensively applied according to the actual situation of the country where the project is located and the characteristics of the project type. Through continuous practice, we can refine participatory application techniques for various exhibition projects.
