Abstract

The acceleration of globalization and transformative advancements in artificial intelligence have precipitated paradigm shifts in technical communication practices among multiple businesses. To meet industrial needs, universities and colleges have gradually updated their curriculum design to keep up with digital changes. Hence, there is an urgent need to cultivate technical communication competencies among higher vocational English majors in China to meet the demands of globalized labor markets. However, technical communication (TC) courses in Chinese universities and colleges face multiple challenges, such as the shortage of qualified teachers and lack of national standards, let alone the current situation in Chinese higher vocational education. Therefore, the paramount objective of this paper is to guide higher vocational English teachers to prepare a high-quality technical communication course and equip higher vocational freshmen with systematic expertise in technical documentation, intercultural communication, and collaborative problem solving—the basic skills critical for adapting to and navigating highly intensive technical communicative ecosystems.
