Abstract

As a typical cultural heritage of Peru, Machu Picchu and the city of Cuzco have unique historical and cultural values. However, they face threats from both natural and human factors, making the work of protection urgent. Therefore, Peru has established a systematic regulatory framework for protection and actively participated in international cooperation. Furthermore, the design of characteristic tourism routes, the promotion of cultural experience activities, and the integration with the educational system and community life are important ways to revitalize cultural heritage. Peru has provided lessons for the preservation and revitalization of cultural heritage across the globe through practice, including the perfection of legislation, the establishment and practice of sustainable tourism development concept, the development of protection concept, and the construction of multi-subject cooperative protection and governance mode, which provides a valuable reference example for the long-term protection, inheritance and innovative development of cultural heritage all over the world.
