Abstract

The tunable grating made from graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) and polydime-thylsiloxane (PDMS) has a large tuning range under near-infrared (NIR) light driving conditions. However, when changing the grating structure parameters, the tuning range will change accordingly. In this paper, we performed numerical simulation analysis on tunable gratings with different structural parameters using COMSOL software. The influence of length, width, and thickness parameters of the GNP/PDMS films on the grating period was studied. The results show that the largest influence on the tuning range of tunable gratings is the length of GNP/PDMS films, and the least affected is the width of GNP/PDMS films. When the length and thickness of the GNP/PDMS film increase, the tuning range of the grating is reduced; however, when the width of the film increases, the tuning range of the grating increases. This quantitative analysis provides critical guidance for structural parameter optimization in the design of tunable grating devices based on GNP/PDMS composites.
