Abstract

Objective: To investigate the intervention effects of PM+ (Problem Management Plus) combined narrative group counseling on clinical maladaptation among nursing interns, and to evaluate its impact on reducing anxiety, enhancing clinical adaptability, and improving nursing skills. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted, involving 160 nursing interns from a tertiary hospital in 2024. The interns were randomly divided into an intervention group (PM+ combined narrative group counseling) and a control group (conventional clinical mentoring), with 80 participants in each group. The intervention group underwent an 8-week structured intervention, while the control group received conventional clinical mentoring. The effectiveness was assessed using the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), the Clinical Maladaptation Scale, and nursing operation assessments. Results: After the intervention, the SAS scores of the intervention group (45.32±6.78) were significantly lower than those of the control group (58.41±9.65) (P<0.01). The incidence of maladaptation decreased from 82.5% to 31.2%, significantly better than the control group (75.0%) (P<0.05). The nursing operation assessment scores (88.74±5.21) were higher than those of the control group (76.53±7.42) (P<0.01). Conclusion: PM+ combined narrative group counseling can effectively improve the psychological adaptation of nursing interns, reduce anxiety levels, and enhance clinical skills, demonstrating significant clinical application value.
