Machine translation has significantly improved translation efficiency and quality. However, previous research on machine translation and post-editing has mostly focused on non-literary texts, with limited studies on literary texts. Therefore, this paper translates the third chapter of the novel The Joy Luck Club based on the LanguageX online translation platform and analyses the advantages and limitations of this machine translation platform on translating literary works. This paper also proposes targeted post-editing strategies. It aims to improve the quality of English-to-Chinese machine translation and enrich the research outcomes of machine translation on literary text.
