This article is a phased achievement of the 2025 Chongqing Higher Education Teaching Reform Research Major Project “Ideological and Political Guidance, Interdisciplinary Integration, and Practice Empowerment—Exploration and Practice of the ‘331’ Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education Model for Foreign Language Majors in Local Universities” [Project No. 251044].

Abstract

This research takes the Bayu culture as the starting point, transcends the fragmented material supplement, and is committed to building a systematic teaching solution. Through the research of mixed methods for a university in Chongqing, this article pioneered the integration model of “five-in-one”, taking the educational concept of “from cultural reference to cultural expression” as the core, and through the four pillars of curriculum reconstruction, method innovation, evaluation innovation, and resource support, to realize the depth of language teaching and cultural education. Teaching practice shows that this model can effectively stimulate students’ cultural identity and willingness to communicate: data shows that more than 92% of students’ interest in Bayu culture has been significantly improved, and 85% of students’ confidence in expressing local culture in English has increased. The English text produced by it also shows a qualitative leap from a simple language exercise to the expression of value connotation.
