The “self-improvement and benefiting others” literacy, as the essence of China’s fine traditional culture, serves as an important carrier for fulfilling the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. The cultivation of this literacy among primary school students is confronted with practical challenges such as a single evaluation standard, rigid teaching methods, a weak home-school collaboration mechanism, and insufficient professional support for teachers. To address these issues, it is necessary to follow the guidance of the Outline of Plan for Building China into a Leading Country in Education (2024-2035) and adopt systematic cultivation approaches, including reforming the evaluation system, deepening classroom reforms, improving collaborative mechanisms, and empowering teachers’ professional development. These efforts enable primary school students to integrate self-improvement with social responsibility, laying a solid foundation for cultivating new-era individuals capable of shouldering the great rejuvenation of the nation.
