Abstract

The Ministry of Education and four other departments have issued the Action Plan for “Artificial Intelligence and Education” (hereafter the Action Plan), which integrates the cultivation of intelligent literacy, scenario innovation, and ethical norms into the K-12 educational layout, offering a clear pathway for the digital transformation of basic education. Intelligent technologies have gradually penetrated primary and secondary classrooms. Second language acquisition features immersive contextual exposure, two-way interaction, and repetitive practice, which align closely with the inherent logic of human-computer interaction (HCI). Accordingly, HCI can effectively address longstanding problems such as rigid traditional teaching models, monotonous oral training channels, and the urban–rural imbalance of foreign language teachers. This paper adopts the research framework of connotation interpretation – problem analysis – path construction. It first clarifies the essence, educational value, and typical application forms of HCI in Second Language Learning (L2). It then identifies practical dilemmas from three dimensions: learning behavior, algorithmic data, and teaching resources, and further explores underlying causes at the institutional and industrial levels. Finally, it proposes targeted optimization strategies covering value orientation, scenario integration, ethical regulation, and teacher professional development, and discusses the long-term development trends of intelligent education. The findings provide theoretical references and practical implications for the standardized application of HCI and the intelligent transfor-mation of foreign language teaching in primary and secondary schools.
