Helmets are necessary to protect the head of cyclists in the event of an accident. Helmets protect cyclists in two ways: by absorbing impact energy directly, and by reducing the severity of head injuries during collisions. A proficiency test on helmet impact energy absorption consists of three phases: pre-test, during-test, and post-test. Before the test, some conditions need to be met, such as equipment calibration and environmental conditions, preparation of the test piece, etc. At the same time, it should be noted that factors such as impact velocity, impact location, fixture position, data acquisition, and uniformity of test operations can all affect the accuracy and consistency of the results. Based on the test results, we evaluated the data, identified any abnormal results, and analysed the reasons for these deviations. Therefore, the following specific recommendations will be made to improve the test process, equipment management, staff operations, and quality control. The purpose is to offer some reference materials for the testing institution of proficiency tests and to help improve the overall level of helmet tests and laboratory quality assurance.
