Author’s Introduction

Hailan Ma ¹, PhD in English Linguistics, is an associate professor in the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Guangdong Ocean University ², China. Her main research areas are conversation analysis and the ecolinguistic study of Leizhou folk songs. She has published two academic monographs. This translation was supported by the Characteristic Innovation Project of Universities in Guangdong Province “Ecological Analysis of Leizhou Folk Songs” (No. 2023WTSCX036) ³, the Research Start-Up Funded Project of Guangdong Ocean University “An innovative study of intended misunderstanding in English and Chinese from the perspective of ecolinguistics” (No. 060302162101) ⁴, and the South China Sea Corpus Research Center of Guangdong Ocean University ⁵.
