Translator’s Reflections
Zhou Guijun is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Foreign Languages of Northeast Normal University, as well as a Fangwu Young Scholar of Northeast Normal University. He concurrently serves as a member of the National Steering Committee for the Education of Postgraduates in Professional Degrees in Translation, the Chairperson of the Teaching Steering Committee for English-related Majors in Higher Education Institutions of Jilin Province, the Chairperson of the Translation Work Steering Committee of Jilin Province, and the Vice President of the Bilingual Studies of Chinese Traditional Culture Branch of the Chinese Pre-Qin History Society. His main research directions include the translation and dissemination of classics, language contact and evolution, English-Chinese rhetoric and style, etc. He has presided over 5 national-level projects, including 2 key projects of the National Social Science Fund. He has published more than 60 papers at or above the CSSCI level in over a dozen academic journals.
Wang Yuhan is a dedicated Chinese-English translator specializing in the translation and international dissemination of Chinese classical literature. In 2019, she earned her degree in Translation Studies from the University of Sheffield in the UK. Her overseas academic training, practical experience, and cross-cultural life exposure have endowed her with profound insight into intercultural contexts. Holding the TEM-4 and TEM-8 certificates, she possesses a deep understanding of the intrinsic linguistic differences and cultural nuances between Chinese and English, and excels at accurately conveying the stylistic essence and emotional depth of source texts in her translations. Her professional work focuses primarily on the translation and overseas promotion of Chinese classical literature and screen productions. With additional academic background in applied linguistics, she is well-versed in the cultural traditions and communicative conventions of English-speaking societies. She is committed not only to maintaining textual accuracy and literary aesthetics but also to emphasizing the effectiveness of cultural adaptation and reader reception. Through her solid bilingual competence and keen cross-cultural sensitivity, she strives to build bridges for cultural exchange between China and the West, contributing to the rightful recognition and resonance of Chinese classical literature within the global literary landscape.
