Global Health Equity: Technology, Access, and Community-Based Care

Dear Colleagues,

As disparities in healthcare access and outcomes persist across the globe, the need for innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches to develop, evaluate, and scale equitable health technologies and community-based care models has become increasingly critical. Global health research and implementation science stand at the forefront of this transformation, offering new pathways for extending care to underserved populations and enabling context-appropriate interventions. Meanwhile, the rapid diffusion of health technologies presents both unprecedented opportunities for narrowing access gaps and significant challenges in ensuring affordability, addressing structural inequities, and maintaining community trust and local capacity.

This special issue aims to explore the intersection of global health equity, technology diffusion, community-based care, and health system strengthening. It seeks to highlight cutting-edge research, implementation innovations, and integrative frameworks that enhance the design, delivery, and responsible scaling of equitable health solutions. Topics of interest include:

• Machine learning and statistical methods for health equity assessment and monitoring

• Interdisciplinary frameworks for integrating technology in community health decisions

• Equity, access, and representation in global health interventions and cohorts

• The evolving role of community health workers and local actors in care delivery

• Ethical and algorithmic fairness in global health risk prediction models

• Data sharing, consent management, and patient agency in global health

• Comparative studies on health technology performance across populations and diseases

• Policy and workforce development for sustainable global health integration

We welcome original research articles, case studies, and reviews that contribute to advancing the dialogue and practice in this dynamic and evolving field.
